At the end of his teenage years his roots lead him in the Lot region near Cahors, where he starts his first wine-making activity.
In 1989, his daughter marries an oenologist from Champagne, Francis Tribaut. At this moment, he falls in love with the Champagne region.
Georges Lacombe purchases a little vineyard that he gradually develops to reach 12 hectares.
In 2004, Francis Tribaut takes over and gives birth to Champagne Georges LACOMBE. It is the beginning of a new adventure.
The future of Francis Tribaut was destined for as he was born in Aÿ in 1962…
Francis Tribaut is the heir to four generations of winemakers and Champagne producers in the Marne region.
He graduated from the Dijon School of Oenology in 1987 before working his way up through the ranks of
prestigious Champagne houses where he gradually developed his technical expertise.
He devoted himself to the family winery from 1991 while continuing to act as a consultant to prestigious Champagne houses.
In 2004, hungry for a new challenge, Francis Tribaut takes over and gives birth to Champagne Georges LACOMBE in the heart of the village of Aÿ. It is the start of an on-going qualitative approach on the product. Francis Tribaut is the cellar master, responsible for both cellar ageing and winemaking, where each cuvée is expertly crafted like the “grand vin” it is.
It is then in the natural atmosphere of our beautiful century-old cellars that the wines are aged on lees. Time is left to work its magic… and tranquillity is just an illusion!
